So I didn’t expect to go this show at all. A few weeks before when this show was confirmed it was 21+ and I’m sadly underage so I didn’t expect to go at all. Then I saw on Instagram that it was all ages. So I was very excited. Blade Killer is always a very good band live and I always enjoy seeing them very much. I have never seen Vanlade live. Actually Vic from Vindicator got me into them. The first band playing was Mutants of War. This a thrash metal outfit from Chino, California. They wear they’re influences on their sleeves of just bringing old school thrash. They’re wasn’t too many people at the location at the moment. There wasn’t any moshing either because the “venue” was a clothing store. Which shocked me to be honest. I didn’t expect that at all. But the sound wasn’t bad or anything it was pretty good for what it was. So when they we’re done I just hung out outside then when I went back in and Vanlade we’re setting up.
The singer of Vanlade came in with a fringed Leather jacket and cowboy boots and aviator glasses. Now, people might think these guys are just hard rock but no they bring some great heavy metal from Kansas. I contributed to their Kickstarter and got my CD earlier this week. They sounded really good. There was a bit of mic issues but they handled it and the show went on. I was really glad they played the song “Hail the Protector”. Since it’s one of my favorites off the new album. They also played a cool cover of “Kansas – Carry on wayward son” and I must say it sounded damn good. They also finished their set with “Blood Eagle”. So they had a pretty strong set list and they sounded great. I would suggest to anybody that if you can see them live.

Next band up was Blade Killer from Los Angeles. I have seen them multiple times however it’s been quite a while so I was itching to see them live again. They got set up pretty quick and people were quite excited to see them. They played with a lot of energy and the crowd was eating it up. “Raise your fist” is a song that got people fistbanging and headbanging (obviously). They played one of my favorite songs from them being “Lost Angels” I think it totally deserves the 7” vinyl treatment in my opinion. They played a new song “Midnight Sinner” which was really good as well. All the songs Blade Killer played we’re excellent. They also played a Judas Priest and an Iron Maiden cover. The crowd ate that up. So once again the band kicked major ass and I hope to see them live again because it’s always a good time. Hopefully, we can expect a new album because it would be great to see them playing a headlining set soon.
This was a very fun gig. I did not expect it to be in a clothing store but it all worked out and I think the fans and the bands all had a good time. Vanlade is playing the Viper room in LA tonight so I suggest going. Blade Killer is confirmed on the Frost and Fire Fest in Ventura so get your ticket while you can. I was not able to see Witchaven due to time constraints. Still If you can see Blade Killer and Vanlade live do it you will not be disappointed!
