Thank you Shawn for your time. How is everything right now in the OLS camp?
Shawn: Things are well just busy with recording and other projects, oh yeah we have jobs as well forgot that
So tell me when when you decided to form One Less Scumbag? Also, how did you come up with the name?
it's a reformation of a band from early 2000s it was a side project of my old band Distrust and Randy (guitarist) band Cold Blooded just something to pass the time while the other bands were not on the road fast forward to 2013 Randy and I came back into contact and decided to make it a regular band we added new members Alex Karp from Erase The Past Travi was one of my old band mates and Harry (DIRTY Harry) is an old buddy of mine.
You guys plays really aggressive, and angry hardcore punk. What has a big influence on your music?
S: we play what we think we’d want hardcore to sound like for us, the newer stuff is a step up in the brutality department it is more crossover but NOT the current "core" bands out there now, will there be comparisons (there always is) but it is not wanna be tech death or pig squealed vocals (if i want death metal ill go to the masters not the deathCORE or whatever core is slapped on it today) its worthy of ears FACT!!
What are some of your musical influences?
S: We all have a range of stuff we enjoy personally I've always loved all of the genres of underground I started with punk and thrash then to hardcore and death metal and beyond, I can’t speak for the other guys but the writing is heading to a thrashy hardcore direction good riffs and beats as the priority.
How was it recording the demo?
S: My job is simple I can’t lie here its show up and yell the others have it a little tougher but the newer tunes were taking a bit more time perfecting.
Rumor is there's going to be an OLS and NOCTURNAL FEAR split. Is this true?
S: It IS..........BUT right now it is on hold Chris from Nocturnal is looking for some lineup changes so it’s going to be done as soon as Nocturnal is ready (we were chomping at the bit so we did our tracks already ) a metal hardcore unity release a first of its kind actually originals and hardcore and metal covers.
To me a lot of hardcore punk is now really anarchy and peace. Where with you guys it's more like "kill everybody" and also on your shirts "no warning shots". Was this something you had in mind when you formed the band?
S: A little we are not exactly pleased with the state of affairs on the friggin planet right now it’s KILL THE VICTIMIZERS actually not everybody were sick of the bad guys winning corny or not there’s nothing wrong with the pursuit of justice safety and stability for our families!! we are not interested in the usual underground topics nor do we go out and declare our allegiance religiously we could care less about Satan, were more interested in seeing child molesters thrown to the guillotine hahahaha.
Have you been in any other bands?
S: We all have a little bit of touring nothing huge.
Also, are you guys planning on releasing an album?
S: We are hopefully by the end of this year it is 12 songs an intro and an outro WHAM we have some samples on youtube check them out if you can and thanks ahead of time.
Thanks for interview. Any last words?
S: Yes thank you for the interview and anyone interested in giving us their time can find us online (facebook because websites we can’t directly control fast enough) one less scumbag or hot ladies modeling our gear at OLS homicide girls soundcloud band camp youtube and reverbnation thanks and take care.
