Raven is back! Their last album was pretty good. But this album takes it up a notch. I saw Raven and Night Demon on the U.S extermination tour. Which has been one of the best tours from these past years. I actually did an interview with John Gallagher really nice guy and I talked to Joe for a few minutes cool guy as well. The only thing is that both bands played a venue that in my opinion was way below them since they are both amazing bands. But enough of my rambling. What about this new album.
The first song "Destroy All Monsters" is just a powerhouse of riffing and Raven adrenaline. It's a great opener for the album and live it sounded great. "It's not what you got" is so catchy. Showing some great songwriting on that song. "Battle March/Tank Treads" is another classic Raven song. John's voice during the chorus sounds really powerful.
"Fire burns within" is a mid-paced Raven rocker and is another ones of my favorite off this album. "Thunder down under" is probably one of the fastest track on this album. The bonus track "Malice in Geordieland" is for one a great song and it's filled with just Raven humor and an ode to Their Northern English dialect and roots. For people who don’t know they are from Newcastle. I thought the song was witty and fun and I really enjoyed it. The production is a step up from the last record. Don’t expect it to be squeaky clean or anything though! This is Raven were talking about. It’s still gritty and raw it’s Raven!. All the energy is still here the Athletic rockers are here to bring Extermination to your ears!
I think this album will definitely be considered in the classic in the Raven discography in time. Check out this album you will not be disappointed.
